Mokara Gora is a nature lover dream, beautiful landscapes and small villages, crowned with unique train ride!      

Western Serbia is probably most known for its wild and untouched nature, beautiful landscapes and tasty cuisine. The small villages in the Zlatibor region are rich in Serbian cultures and traditions along with domestic food and drinks.

Mokra Gora is a village in Serbia on the northern slopes of Zlatibor mountain, a popular tourist attraction. Mokra Gora has become popular after a reconstruction of a narrow gauge railway called Sargan Eight which is unique in the world. Its route viewed from the sky, looks like the number 8 and it is running from the village of Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi station. The train Nostalgia departs from Mokra Gora station at 10:30 and 13:30 on regular basis. During the journey there are several breath-taking spots where we can make stop for short brake and taking photos. Ticket for the ride is included.

When approaching Mokra Gora, you will notice the outline of a traditional-looking village. This is the village of Drvengrad also known as Küstendorf or Mećavnik. Drvengrad was constructed by the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica as a set for his 2004. release “Life is a Miracle”.

Emir Kusturica won the Palm d’Or twice at the Cannes Film Festival during his career and also used to be in the jury of the festival.

Drvengrad has it’s own library, named the Ivo Andrić Library, an artist gallery named Macola in honor of sculptor Dragan Jovićević, Stanley Kubrick Cinema for movie projections, gymnasium, sauna, sports hall, cake shop, as well as a souvenir shop.

Since 2008. Küstendorf International Film and Music Festival is held in Drvengrad, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. Festival showcases films and music from all around the world, and is known for not having a red carpet.
